Right now I'm sitting in the living room listening to my youngest daughter Rachel aka "Sweetpea" doing a song and dance routine by herself in the kitchen. It is not a professional caliber performance, yet I am enjoying it immensely.
The trick is to peek quickly and not let her see me or the whole show will stop. She is singing into a spoon. And the song - while clearly an original creation - is stongly influenced by the finest Britney Spears / Lindsey Lohan / Hillary Duff traditions.
These spontaneous little performances are one of the best parts of being a father... along with things like hugs and clay pots from art class. And looking at your sleeping child's face. Why do they look so angelic when they're sleeping?
