It's been noted that some really great threads have come and gone in the Becker forum, and we might want to get those in front of new people more visibly.
So I thought I'd at least start a thread for nominations and get a sense of what we're talking about.

I figured, at the least, we could amass here a pretty good list of the Bestest Threads.
And maybe, if we ask real nice, Bladite might hook us up with a section in the FAQ Sticky:

So let us know which threads you've really enjoyed. A few ground rules though to make this easier...

1. No chatting. The list will be easier to review and sort if you just limit responses to nominations.
2. The thread cannot already be linked in the Stickies. Don't know what's there? Well, then, read 'em. You should anyway.
3. Post a link. The mods are not going to dig out a thread you vaguely recall from 2009. The Search feature is your friend.

Sound fair? If so, have at it. I have a few in mind, but I'll wait and see what other folks come up with.
I'm hoping there won't be a lot of dead-thread resurrection, to the point that new threads get shunted aside.
If that happens, we might have to administratively close some of the old threads for a while. We'll see.

Oh yeah, if you post a thread that's already in the Stickies, Bladite will probably infract you. :D

also, it wouldn't hurt to write 2-3 sentences on why the thread rocks...

Guyon, if you're feeling saucey, esp next week, just ADD the section, k? :) i give you leave ;) heck, i want to fill in some of the outlined sections too. the modifications sections esp.

Well, that was originally #4 in my directions, but no one was doing it.
Rather than correct everybody, I just went with the flow and removed that rule. :p

As for the thread you mention Bladite, I think we'd be better off starting another firearms thread but more intimately tie it to BK&T.
There's Ethan's own firearms training, his pistol bayonet :), the use of firearms in wilderness skills, use alongside Becker knives, etc.
All kinds of ways we could better keep the thread here. Even down to picking a better title.

The earlier thread is kind of strained at this point anyway.
There was a hiccup in the middle over some perceived cultural symbolism.
And some folks have chosen to remove their pics since the thread went elsewhere.
Not to mention the fact that the thread is now dead in the water and sinking fast in Gadgets and Gear.
But that seems to be the order of things here. Round pegs in round holes, smaller communities be damned.

My first nomination would be for DerekH's thread on mods. It'd be rad for new users to see what can be done to their knives. Also a good reference for us if new threads pop up with mod questions.

Doug Ritters thread about when he heard Ethan Becker was able to get his name back from Camillus and how he's going to Ka Bar. I just think it's cool to know even a small bit of the story behind the knives we love.
