I recently found some whole pearl shells online, they are 6x6, and will be purchasing them. What is the best way for me to cut them up into sutible knife scales? Diamond saw? Bandsaw? I'll probally lay out the shell into rectangles and cut them out? I am also aware of the health hazards associated with cutting/working with pearl.
Thanks for any help,
Chuck

Good luck, I have heard that it is very hard to do by hand. I have a few abalone shells that I bought to cut up into scales. After seeking advice, I decided not to bother cutting them.

Go to a rental place and get a tile saw for the day. Ive seen some people actually bring what they need to cut and do it right at the store to get a cheaper 2 hr rate on the rental.
