I ordered a knife from Tim Herman yesterday. I have never seen his knives in person, but Mike Cooper (A wonderful maker whose work I own) has seen Tims knives up close, and says they are true examples of incredible craftsmanship. Last night in IRC, Tim and I kind of hammered out the details of what the knife is going to be, and I know its gonna be the pride of my modest collection. Waiting is going to be hard, but worth every bit of it im sure. Go check out his website and see what I mean

Tim certainly makes some impressive art knives. There are some great pics on his site too. I especially like that $20,000 gold framed knife with opal inlays, pictured on a head of cabbage. The cabbage really makes the knife stand out.

LOL, no Tex. Tim and I (mostly Tim) came up with a very basic fixed blade design, albiet with his artistic touch, that I will actually be able to afford. He was kind enough to allow me to make payments on it, while he is working on it...so, I put aside a few months knife budget, and bingo...its paid for

He knows I have wanted one of his for some time, and he is being very helpful in accomidating me...thanks Tim!!!

I had the privilege of seeing a few of Tim’s knives up close at the Solvang show. They are among the finest works of metal art I’ve ever seen. You can’t go wrong with this man’s incredible craftsmanship.

BTW Tim, thanks for helping my friend Jeff with the gold inlay techniques. He loves doing it, and I can’t wait to see where he takes it.

Im waiting for the Tim "Pass around and see how it works" Herman Knife to come to my house before I send him anything! Who has it now anyway?

OK Richard, here is the $100,000 question. Are you gonna use it? Heheheh.

That was a question, not the price of the knife....or was it?
