The Better FFG Cutter

ZDP Caly? If the same steel then the one that fits your hand better. Although few knives cut as well as the flat ground Caly 3 straight out of the box and the ZDP gets really sharp and holds it. Hard to beat it.
 
I find the ergonomics of the Caly 3 superior, and, IIRC, the edge is ground thinner than the Lum. I would take a VG-10 Caly 3 over the ZDP-189 Lum for an EDC/user.

If you must have ZDP-189, then that version of the Caly 3 will give you the better ergos, but I prefer grippy G-10 to smooth CF. VG-10 is a great steel, and will serve you very well.
 
I will take VG10/G10 Caly3 over ZDP Lum Chinese any day, any time.

Oh, Caly 3 or Lum.
I have the ZDP Caly 3 and consider it perfection, don't have the Lum (though it is very tempting).
 
I have a UKPK, essentially a non-locking Caly 3, and it is very sharp. I've never used the Lum so I can't really give a fair opinion.

Wouter has both. Hopefully he chimes in.
 
Lum is actually rather thick behind the edge. Caly 3 is much thinner. There's nothing I like about the Lum. Love the Caly!
 
The Caly seems too slim for my hands. And even though it cuts like a beast, I find my ZDP Lum to slice a bit better, while obviously holding an edge way longer than my VG-10.
Though I do prefer VG-10 steel for my EDC knives.
 
You may want to consider the FFG Delica as well. It is pretty unbelievable. I swear you could perform surgery with it. The ZDP version should be even more amazing.
 
+1 for the Delica FFG. Measured at thickest point just above the hole the Caly3 ZDP189 is ~2.95mm; the new Delica FFG VG10 is ~2.55mm. In my use there's no perceptible difference between the two, either in the steels or in the thicknesses. The thinner Delica is a champ and a bit cheaper than the Caly3. Both are awesome knives. I'm thinking of getting that brown FFG Endura as a camp chef's knife because I like the Delica so much.
 
+1 for the FFG Delica. I've never taking a liking to the Caly 3, it's a bit small for my hands, and I don't like wire clips. But the flat-grind Delica is a wonder. I convexed the edge on mine, and it is a cutting demon. It's my favorite knife at the moment- sooooo sharp and slicey. :thumbup:
