This is the Bhudhuni khukuri from the village of the same name. These came in yesterday afternoon. It is 20 inches in length, blade thickness 7/16, width 2 inches, weight just shy of 2 pounds. Very nice finish for a village khukuri, brass inlay and scrollwork, good scabbard. Karda and chakma fair.

I have three (maybe four) available.

Price is $85 and I will pay shipping. A lot of khukuri for the price.

Call or email.

Bill,

Did the big chopper you sent me come from this village? There appear to be some similarities.

Kami/Bill,

The Bhudhuni looks good and slighlty heftier than my 20" inch village sirupati. Please put me down for one, if one is available.

Thanks,

Bill,

The Bhudhuni villager is heavy and beautiful! My favorite villager thusfar. Can't wait to use it at camp. I think it'll serve quite well to split kindling from quartered logs.

Hi Uncle:

I've emailed you some questions. Thanks in advance for the info.

Are there any of these left?

A major tree limb fell across my porch and the telephone line in the gusty aftermath of Floyd.

Well, the Bhudhuni khukuri made short work of clearing away branches. One easy swing and 1.5" to 2" limbs dropped off with clean cuts.

This is my best khukuri chopper yet. The horn handle with the discoloration on the top part gives even more character and individuality. This one is a keeper for life!

Sing,

I concur with your assessment. I have a khukuri that is very similar to these. It is the one that Bill first thought, mistakenly, that Ganga Ram made. The ornamentation looks very similar to that pictured on these knives, and makes me suspect it came form the same Kami. Mine is slightly larger, and slightly heavier.

It is a great lopper and chopper. And while not light, it has a flow to it that would make it formidable in battle. These are also of the approximate size used in the ceremonial sacrifices mentioned occasionally on the forum.

I thought I got a great deal on mine, but these prices are really good. I would be tempted to get one if I weren't in danger of having my wife use it on me when she saw it arrive.

Honorable Kami Sherpa,

Is the name Bhudhini commonly applied to khukuris in Nepal? If so, what are the typical characteristics of the Bhudhini khukuri? Is it the large size? Are there other distinguishing features?

Ok Uncle. The time has come. I'll take one. Sending you an e-mail. Certainly is a lovely knife.

Kinda of selfish of me.

Now, that I got mine I can only say that some of you missed out a great deal and khukuri. But there will be others. My Hi and villager collection is getting there.
