I was buying my resident firearm deer permit at my local Sam Walton owned store and I found the holiday knives are in. It looked like slim pickens this year......
One was a Gerber with a little tool (can opener/bottle opener/prybar)
-Another cheapo Gerber Guardian with an LED Flashlight
- SoG with a safety cutter. Looks like a Fielder blade. Set included a Whistle/fire starter.
- SoG throwing knife set of 3 with sheath.
- SoG Fasthawks are back!! I beat the hell out of last years and it's still going. Now they come in black, polished, and digi camo!
- They also had a Buck tin with a canoe and a trapper with the wooden scales.
- I also had Shefield and Winchester sets and singles for cheaper.

I bought 2 Fasthawks- one for each kid. I doubt I will buy anything else...unless there is something from Kershaw again this year.

Did you buy any this year? What did you expect?

Well, it looks like you will be buying something else. My local W had a kershaw Blackwash Christmas set for $20. Kershaw starter with PE spanto style blade, rope cutter / bottle opener tool, flashlight and a dog tag. All blackwash except for the crappy HF style flashlight.

Here's the knife and keychain tool from the Kershaw set. I didn't figure the light and dogtag needed pictured. The knife is actually a Manifold with different (IMO better) blade. I cleaned mine, lubed it up and deassisted it. I think I'm gonna practice some modifications on it.

Mono I was looking at ammo in a Wally two days ago and saw the same thing. I was kind of surprised and actually spent a good few minutes checking out all the clam pack knives, although in the Walmart near where I live the case is locked, lol. My Wally had a some of the Kershaw packs as described above as well as some packaged solo. Also the SOG, Gerber, and Bucks were all present and accounted for. I was also drawn to to the SOG hawk, they had a boatload of them in stock!

I'd buy that. What is the blade steel?
The blade steel isn't listed but I'm assuming its 3CR13mov like the other knives in the starter series. Its an assisted knife with nylon washers but it does have a detent drilled and makes a halfway decent manual flipper if that's your thing. Tip down only with a deep carry clip and framelock.

CF1969- Those Fasthawks don't last long around here. I'd bet they will be gone today.

I will go look again-maybe I missed the Kershaws.

I noticed that here locally too, Walmart has a large holiday section of cheap looking SOG knives and axes and Tractor Supply has the Case and Schrade knives out.

I still need to drop by my local stores and see what they have in stock. New stuff usually takes forever to make it down here.

Ok so I went back over to Wallyland to look again. Here's a pic:

Those FastHawks in the front lower right in the boxes were marked at $29.99. Those are black. Behind those boxes was 3 digicam FastHawks in clamshell, and they were marked at only $19.99 so I bought 2 of those. I'll keep one and gift one:

My regular size SOG tomahawk was $29 or $39- The Fasthawk is a lot smaller.

CD1969-

That's pretty much the layout here as well, except we've got the SOG throwing knives and sawback kukri's for $20 too. I'm thinking about getting the Fasthawk for my sister since she likes tomahawks.
