Its been one of the best weeks I have ever had fishing here locally on the Columbia River in the 35 years I been living in the northwest. Got a call to go fishing Monday night for a day of fishing Tuesday. Actually did pretty good and finally got to break in my new steelhead outfit with a 6 pound native steelhead that I had to release. This trip really had me worn out. I was out doing a bunch of yard work Wednesday evening when I got another call to go fishing Thursday morning. As worn out as I was from Tuesday fishing trip I came close to turning this trip down but decided I'd better go. We'd been on the river for a good 4 or 5 hours without a single bump until this monster struck. 30 minutes later I had this 42", 40 pound chinook salmon on the boat. What a thrill!

Ahhh, 'Catch of the Day'........fire up the smoker!

Congrats on landing that badboy. :)

What a beauty!
It fills the whole tailgate!
I'd love to see the tackle you used to land that one.

Bet you were beat after fighting that monster.
Well done!

That's a beautiful fish, Ray!

Right now at my work, King is back up to $23.00/lb, so dressed out, you have about $500.00+ retail fish!

Are you going to smoke whatever you have remaining after the initial feast? I like peppered hot cure salmon and also jerky myself.

Congratulations and WELL DONE!

Steven, Right now I've been putting together a smoker that my wife bought me 2 or 3 years ago. Just got a few more parts to assemble and the experimenting will begin. I may temper a few blades while I'm at it. :D This is a million dollar fish but I'd take $500.00 for it. It really was a thrill catching this fish! I'm still feeling excited about it.
