The biggest problem with Busse, Swamp Rat, and Scrapyard

I have only one complaint, but it is a big one.:grumpy:

Why is it when I finally get the scratch together to buy another one, they are out of stock on darned near everything??? I can't keep money in my pocket long enough to wait for another run (three grown women to support makes sure of that). Trouble is, I will only buy the best. Therein lies my dilemma. I really don't like buying someone else's either. If they are willing to part with such a thing, then obviously they must've done something real bad to it, why else would they want to get rid of it? I just don't accept that it is a marketing thing.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time nor the patience to sit idly in front of my monitor and push the refresh button waiting for a sale to start (I get enough of that sort of thing at work, thank you very much).

I realize that as a civilian now, I am a second class citizen, and I wholeheartedly support putting more hogs and rats in the hands of our fighting men and women. I would just like to have a shot sometime at getting another knife or two.

Okay, bitch mode off now.:D

I was just looking for something different from what I have now. I already have an AK-47 and a SR DBR, and I just want to get something a little smaller now. Trouble is, when I go to the company stores, I only see maybe one or two models posted, then when I go to order one, they say they are out of stock (scrapyard), or it isn't listed on the order page at all. It is frustrating.

The Game Warden actually looked promising. So did the Scrap Yard Street Scrapper. The Dog Father would've also made a nice addition to my "big" knife collection. Unfortunately none of them are available now, despite being posted on the knives page of each respective site. The howling rat would be okay, but not quite what I had in mind.

The point is, it is frustrating waiting for all the stars to align so I can purchase another toy. Invariably when the moment comes that I have the cash in hand, there's nothing there I want and I end up spending the money for something else instead (or more likely it gets spent for me).

Your best bet would be to post on the WTB section in the Exchange or keep your eyes open for the blade you want on the secondary market. Good luck bro...I/we have felt your pain! :(

you need a secret bank account like i have.. and DON'T tell the wife about it!

or.. sell off some of your grown women.. :)

Supporting ONE is bad enough as it is !!

Yep, aftermarket seems to be an alternative. The only trouble I have with that is I don't like paying a 50% markup on a knife someone else has used, and as far as I am concerned if it didn't come from the mfr, then it is used (someone else's hands have been all over it, you know). You don't see these knives for resale at a discount, and like I said before, anyone wanting to part with one does so for a reason, they don't want it anymore.

I gotta think Jerry, Jennifer, Dan and Patti must have a sadistic streak in them to be doing this to us all the time. I can almost hear that evil daffy duck laugh in the background every time I visit one of their webistes.

Thanks to modern technology, the only safe bank account I have is the mason jar out back I planted at 2:00 am, at least I think it is still there...

As for selling of the grown women, I am afraid I am not old enough just yet that grown women are of less value to me than a knife. Even so, two of them are daughters that are about to be classified as Klingons if they don't quit picking my pockets. The third one would cost me more to get rid of (legally anyways) than it costs to keep her around. Reminds me of an old Jerry Reed song...

:o

Many times, people will buy more than one, planning on turning around and selling them later. So, when someone offers a "mint" Busse on the exchange, it probably is.

I think you will find that most of the knives sold aftermarket are not used. So you can still get them at a good deal.

Remember, these knives are guaranteed for whatever, so even a used one will come with a guaranty. So you can beat it. I have my user SHBM's and I know if I put them up for sale they would not last a minute.

Learn this and you will be a happy INFI camper (believe me I bought my first in 2000). You must buy Busse's when they are in production and available for order (in your choice of configuration) at his Busse Combat site. Depending on the time in the "cycle" that you order, you will wait a bit. It will be worth the wait! If you like to buy only the best, then you will want to keep an eye on these forums to see what the next offering is and order while you can get them at the regular price. Jerry posts the new model prior to the release. If there is something that you just have to have, well sometimes we pay the price for those "just gotta have" things in many respects of our lives. Stay around for the long haul and you will have a nice set of Busse's at the regular prices. Good luck my friend and welcome to the addiction.

Cincinnati (aka: Porkopolis) gets its name when the 2-year-old town of Losantiville on the Ohio River is renamed by the Northwest Territory's first governor Gen. Arthur St. Clair, who calls it Cincinnati after the Society of Cincinnati formed by officers of the Continental army at the end of the Revolution.

1818
Pioneer pig sticker, Elisha Mills opens Cincinnati, Ohio's first slaughterhouse. Cincinnati begins packing pork in brine-filled barrels. Salt pork becomes a U.S. food staple, and within a decade, the city will earn the nickname "Porkopolis.".

1825
Buffalo, NY, is the short-lived meat-packing center of the U.S. as the Erie Canal makes it a central shipping point. It will soon be replaced by Cincinnati, then Chicago.

1829
Cincinnatians and the world begin to regularly refer to the Ohio meat-packing town by the nickname "Porkopolis.".

1839
The musical instrument termed the "Porco-Forte" is invented in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a keyboard instrument fashioned after a piano, but with a hammer action whereby pigs tails are pinched as each key is struck, permitting the player to produce a gradation of squealed notes depending on which keys were struck and how hard.

1861
As the Civil War rages in the U.S. and demand for pork and beef staples escalates, Chicago, benefiting from superior rail transportation, replaces the "Porkopolis" of Cincinnati as the leading meat processing city in the US.

1909
November 4 Pigs fly! A piglet is taken for a 3 1/2 mile joyride in a Short biplane by Lord Brabazon, holder of the first pilot's license in the United Kingdom. The piglet goes aloft in a basket tied onto the plane's wing and bearing a sign: "I am the first pig to fly," though he seemed to have little choice in the matter.

1913
Oct. 7 Henry Ford begins operation of an "automobile assembly line" at the Ford Motor Company plant in Detroit, Michigan. Ford and engineer Clarence Avery credit their observations of the dis-assembly lines used by Cincinnati and Chicago pork packers as a major inspiration. By simply reversing the process, Ford cut the time required to assemble a motorcar from 12.5 down to 1.5 hours.

1921
In the "Porkopolis" of Cincinnati, a local auto parts producer Powel Crosley, moves his ham radio station 8CR transmitter from his house to his factory and has it licensed under the call letters WLW. Crosley will organize Crosley Radio Corp. in 1923 and the station will become a 50,000 watt voice of the Midwest?s pork and corn belt.

1945
Harry S. Truman, a former Kansas farmer, is elected 33rd U.S. President. Reflecting on his position, he states "No man should be allowed to be the President who does not understand hogs, or hasn't been around a manure pile."
How fluggin' cool is that?

Yep, and that's the trouble. Anyone willing to make all the effort to actually get some of them isn't going to turn around and sell them at cost.

I guess if I am gonna have to deal with a middle man, then that's the price I pay for lack of diligently sitting at the console to the wee hours of the morning. Then too, I don't get to shop for what I want as much either.

What do you suppose would happen if the Busse companies charged double for their products, but increased production to actually meet demand? I guess that would be like asking Jerry just how rich did he really want to become?

Yep, I saw that earlier. I guess to my way of thinking, more knives sold = more money to buy drink with. Here in Oz, I am learning there's no such thing as too much beer.

Speaking of which, maybe I should just go get a beer and forget my worries.

You are on the right forum to converse about Busse products. Wrong place to compain about the process. The folks that normally hang out here are devoted fans of the product and accept the system. Let it go...........

and many more. Read the initial posts stuck at the top.

You will find many interesting folks here with lots of knives to share. Join the crowd.......

While I understand your thought here, I would encourage you to consider another possibility. From what I've seen there are a number of Hogs who buy and collect knives, treat them with great care, store them in a safe place, etc. The willingness to sell can vary in motivation from needing cash for bills, wanting new Busse offerings, or just wanting to help out somebody looking for a certain knife. I have found that is you want a Busse and have the cash, you can get one. The two I have received on the Exchange have looked all the part of brand spanking new! Hope that is helpful.

Grab a beer, put a want to buy ad in the WTB section and with these guys, granted they may be a "middle man" in a sense, but most I would imagine wouldn't over charge you and I've had some great knives come from other's safe queens. That's how it goes if you want older pieces that are no longer made (Not meaning this instance though) :)

Howling Rat LM's are in stock ( https://www.shop.ratknives.com/ ), and you can order a Badger Attack from Busse ( http://www.bussecombat.com/home/index.shtml )

Yep, and I am thinking hard about both the HR and the BA. Most likely will tip towards the BA come nightfall and I've got a few slugs in me.

As for the rest, no worries folks. I am big fan of these knives too. Just thought to bring a little sarcastic humor on board, but don't want to leave the impression I am too much a grumpy git. Hopefully some will see that the sarcasm is actually a tribute to these fantastic knives. Would that we could all get our hands on more I think would make the world a better place.

Besides which, I don't mind poking a little fun at myself now and then too.

Lazlo, I love your avatar. I have a picture of myself that looks just like it, somewhere...
