The Crow and Raven are the newest knives from the Spyderco/Bird collaboration. The Crow being the smaller of the two. I believe these are the first to made with aluminum scales. On both models, the blades and handles are black coated.
-The knife overall; as typical with a Spyderco influenced knife, overall feel is solid, fits my hand (i've felt better, but this one is good non-the-less) action is smooth (for a 18.00 knife) and lock-up is as good as a liner-lock gets at this price. I feel this was money well spent. Listed as 6 5/8" length, I get 6 5/8". Also listed as 3.5 oz.
-Handle; listed as 3 7/8", this is what I measure. Dual AL scales with dual S/S liners give this knife a nice little heft that leads to a solid feel. The leaf texture gives a good grip as does the black coating. Unlike the Raven, this handle has a very pronounced hump approx. 3/4 down. It still feels good in the hand and in a reverse grip (stab/digging) feels very secure.
-Blade; listed as 2 13/16". I get exactly 2 3/4" and a cutting edge of 2 1/4". It rides on teflon washers and has traction groves on the choil cutout and the thumb ramp. As with all my Birds so far, (Meadowlark, Pelican) the edge came very sharp and would easily take hair from my arm. I don't carry my first two as I found them a bit too heavy and the Pelican too large. The blade was a touch off centered, but a small adjustment to the pivot screw fixed that. Only time will tell how the 8Cr13MoV will hold up.
-Lock; lock-up is good on this knife considering the price point. The lock bar is easy to get to and easy to disengage. The liners are less than 1/16" but engage the tang the full width of the liner, making lock-up fairly strong. It passes the open hand test like a tank and the reasonable strike on a hard surface. The hard surface does make the lock bar move inward on the tang, but that is not a bad thing as it gets stronger from this action.
-Clip; as all my Birds, the clip is as strong as I have ever seen. It lets you chose tip-up or down, mine was shipped tip-up. It is also black coated and held on with three screws.
-Give this knife;   For 18.00, this is a good deal.
