Stephan Fowler is making a large Subhilt for me which I will hopefully pick up at blade. Stephan has been kind enough to photograph the birth of this beauty so I thought I would share the pics with you.

all knives start with an Idea...( Stephans drawing..I cannot draw a circle..)( Is Ren a knife maker? no he is a knife watcher LOL...)

It will be interesting to see how this one looks when it is finished. Another WIP thread for our viewing pleasure, thanks.

I start out with a sketch to keep me on track.

I still haven't made up my mind on the guard, I kinda wanna do a double guard.

ehh, more sketching.

Thanks Ren and Stephan for sharing this experience.

I like seeing maker's raw forgings as it's interesting to see how close they forge their raw blades to final profile and how much they leave to the stockremoval process.
Stephan's got a good looking forging to start with here.

I'm liking the double guard better. And I really dig that broad recurve blade.

Very nice! As an aside, you best be bringing some of your unemployment checks and your tax return money to Blade with you, Ren!!!:D

I just got a nice simple knife from Stephan Fowler and I'm really happy it came my way. The man makes a good knife:thumbup:! I think this one is going to be great.

We've polished up to 600g on the grinder, I stop polishing here and fit the guard and etch my mark.
