Two days ago I got my Camillus/Ka-Bar BK-10 in the mail and I've been I've been studying it, comparing it, handling it and just contemplating it over the past 72 hours.
I won't to into the details of the knife because the BK-10 has been covered extensively in other postings on this forum.
Initial impressions are very, very good. This is the knife I'd hoped the BK-2 would be when I ordered it, my first Becker, back in April. The BK-10 is light, well balanced and just the right size. I think it is easily the best general purpose Becker blade I've encountered and overall it's my second favorite, right behind the BK-7.
What I have not done is take it to the woods and give it a full and thorough evaluation. And herein lies my dilemma. I am very reluctant to take it out and beat it up. I consider this knife more a collectors item than a using knife. It's unique provenance (blade by Camillus, finished by Ka-Bar, limited production run, etc.) and price are making me lean towards just putting this knife away and maintaining it in clean, original condition.
But, BUT, I very much want to test a BK-10 and put it to use in the field. Notice I said 'a' BK-10, not my current BK-10. A future BK-10. Perhaps a standard production model made by Ka-Bar. With all the enthusiasm over the coming tweeners and twixters and who knows what else I can't help but think that Becker & Ka-Bar already have a proven design just waiting to go into production.
So if someone in Olean is reading this, pleeeeze crank up the BK-10 production line!
Oh, and what's up with the noisemakers? Clearly I missed the joke
