I just finished reprofiling the BK2 the other day to a relatively shallow convex edge, which means it will be sharper and easier to sharpen, but also in theory, weaker then a steep convex would be.
I just came back in from testing my BK2 with the sharper and so called “weaker” edge. I cross battened about 3 and 4 inch pieces of red alder, (red alder is a medium hardness hardwood, slightly softer then oak) and also split very large pieces with it as well. About 24 inches long, and about 4 inches wide, with a lot of knots.
The wood I was testing this on, as I said above, is called red alder which is a type of birch. Its a medium hardness hardwood, slightly softer then oak. But the wood I was using, has been seasoned outside with no protection from the weather for over two years. It has been exposed to -40 Celsius, and up to +34 Celsius. And is extremely hard.
One piece I had, had a HUGE knot right in the middle if it, the knot is about three and a half inches wide.
Take a look at what the BK2 did to it with about 5 strikes with a baton made from the same wood which is about 19” and about 2 inches wide.

After doing this, and ALOT more...It took about 1 min on a strop with some Autosol on it, and another min on raw veggie tanned leather to get it back to razor sharp...Man I love my 2
This was the view from our dinning room window the other night...by far not the best pic of the sunset we have...but it kinda shows you where I live...Do you see the mountain range? Well you can see Forrest and mountains like that from any part of town. The mountain range to the far left, is about a 7 min drive to the base of it from our house.

Take care guys!
