Hi all!!!
I got back last night from the Blade Show in Atlanta!
It was AWESOME!!! I met a bunch of famous knife makers like Ed Fowler, David Dempsey, Bill Moran, Jerry Busse, and a few forumites!
I also got to hold a $25,000 knife made by the late William Scagel!!:D I did happen to see one HI Ang Khola made by Sher! I have never seen so many knives in one place befor and acctually got to hold them all! I mostly went to talk to a few knifemakers and get a few tips and ideas on what I need to do to start making my own knives. I hope by this time next year I'll be grinding out my own blades!! Well it was a blast and if you ever get a chance try to go because it was tons of fun!:)

Yes, but I still don't know how to post pictures

I think that with a basic membership you need to have webspace like on a webpage, and then you link to it. Or, you can have anyone with a premium or Gold membership post them for you---which I'd be happy to do. Email me the photos and I'll post em:)

Chris, email your pics of the Scagel to me and I'll post 'em for you.
Manoucher, Bill Scagel "was the first well-known [American] custom knife-maker of the 20th century...and his work has both directly and indirectly influenced hundreds of...makers... The prices of Scagel knives have more than doubled in the past couple of years....Large hunting knives are worth $4000 up; small hunting knives $1,500 up. Deluxe custom made knives will bring considerably more" - Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values, 4th Ed. 1997 (now well out of date as to values - a new catalog from a respected dealer shows a small Scagel hunter for $7,000)

Guys, I don't even know how to email pictures! I guess I have to get them put on a CD and then into my CD tray. Then what do I do...don't tell me yet, let me first get the CD ready. I'm sorry, I'm just terrable with getting computers to do what I need them to!:(
I'll let you know when I get the CD! ;)

OK Chris. Manoucher, here's a pretty typical big Scagel hunter - probably worth more than any (or all!) of my cars.

I've never been but I have a friend who attends every year. Maybe I will make it next year.

I love scagel-pattern knives; outside of khukuris they are the blades that really "speak" to me. Fortunately my closest friend is an aspiring custom knife maker who likes making them! Am I lucky or what?:D

His web page is here-http://www.fogartyhomestead.com/hillbillychuck.html

Chris, he is a beginning knife maker and probably wouldn't mind if you emailed him. He also posts in the shoptalk forum.

Thanks for the pic. Does this knife sport a pattern welded or a high carbon blade. The prices are collector prices only since paying so much for a knife, well you can get nihontos for that. Nice knife and example:)

Thanks

Manoucher
