The Bladeforums Spell Checker doesn't acknowledge knife terms :D

One of the interesting things I've noticed about the BF spell checker is that it doesn't recognize some legitimate knife terminology.

Some of the terms I've run across that the spell checker doesn't recognize -

ricassso
choil
quillon
spey
sheepsfoot
tanto
skeletonized
kukri
khukri
seax

Has anyone noticed any other knife terms that are unrecognized?

Is the problem with a Bladeforums spell checker or your computer's spell checker? I don't know that BFC even has one.

Some browsers have a built in spell checker (Safari, Chrome, Firefox). Might be that. Not sure how Tapatalk goes about it.

I do use chrome. Maybe that's the culprit. I just know it irritates my OCD component to KNOW I'm typing a legitimate word and to see the stupid little red squiggle under it. :D.. Yeah, I know, first world problems. :D:D

eta:: just checked Mozilla, Firefox and Internet Exploder. All three also display the above words as "misspelled" while typing them. And I'm on a different computer at Techshop (Dell w/ Windows 7) than what I use at home (HP w/ Windows 8.1).

I know what you mean, on Windows machines we use Chrome and Firefox (Win7 & 8.1). I use Safari on Macs. As for Chrome, what you can do is add those words to the browser dictionary. The only words above that are misspelled on my computer is the first one in the list, it has an extra "s". I didn't have to add any of them that I know of. Then again, they may have already appeared before and I may have added them years ago.

Your spellings of Khukuri are actually bastardizations of the original word. That may be why it gets flagged. But then again spellcheck probably isn't smart enough to recognize that one either. :)

Well, the 3rd "s' in my ricasso is due to dumb finger disease. :D

Since I never know what the spelling of the week is for khukuri, I googled it to see how it was supposed to be spelled and came up with the 2 ways in my list. "Khukuri" shows up as "not spelled right" as well, so your prediction was accurate.

As an aside, I don't do very much texting on my phone because I absolutely hate when my phone "autofinishes" what I'm typing, ESPECIALLY when it does it wrong and I don't catch it. Makes me look like a bigger dumbass than I already am. :D

I know all about it. When I write on my phone I get all manner of random letters and other symbols that are unnecessary.
