The BM 585-2 screams jimping required

Today I went to my local outdoor goods dealer to look at assisted opening knives after seeing my friends Kershaw Leek. I narrowed my search to the Benchmade 470-1 and the 585-2. After much handling I decided on the 470-1. I would have chosen the 585-2, but the lack of gimping was a deal breaker. It screams "jimping required", but for some reason it isn't available. Granted the 470-1 lacks jimping as well, but I find for that knife design it's not necessary. Anyone else come to the same conclusion on the 585-2?

Never felt like gimping was necessary on any knife.

The first time i had ever heard of jimping was a nutnfancy video. Before that I had never paid attention to whether a knife had jimping and now, I still don't - unless it has too much.

Jimping isn't required. Grew up with Slippies that never Slipped, never had a problem. Some of the newer designs using it can downright hurt if pressed too hard!

I want to use this knife for edc as well as carving. For me I tend to place my thumb on the spine of the blade while carving. Griping the knife that way I found my thumb was not securely resting on the spine. I need to have my thumb planted securely and I wasn't feeling that. In this case, at least for me, jimping is a feature I need. Other than that I though the knife felt good in hand. I suppose I could rough up the spine where I need it or place a sliver of skate board tape on the spine.
