I just bought an Anza Boddington and i couldnt be happier with it. Its so rugged and ugly im not afraid to take it out of the box and put it too use. The file marks on it just add to the look of the knife. The blade is razor sharp and i couldnt be happier with it. Good buy

Thanks for posting. I'm an Anza fan too, and they get far too little attention on the forums. And even though they get rave reviews and have been around for for many years, it seems like very few forum readers actually own one.

Do you have any other anza knives? Im asking because im thinking of getting one of the bigger anzas. Probably the Tracker but the Ranger looks nice also.

I have two Anzas, both customs. Neither is particularly large though ( 9-1/2" and 10-1/2" overall). Looking at the Tracker and Ranger at the Anza website, they look very cool but I haven't handled one. The Scout looks like a good design too.

How is it that this forum always seems to turn things up just when I begin to think about them ? I thought long and hard about buying a new knife to rotate as my large EDC (Buck/Strider 880), decided to go for a T2 Ranger... and there's a thread about them the next day!

Yesterday I was given a little Anza TW in a trade, and here you guys are talking about them when I had never even heard of them before I got mine !
Spooky!

From what I see, that tiny little TW will be a great tool for slipping in my fanny-pack whilst out shooting (hunting). Something cheap enough not to worry about, but practical enough to be of use in 1001 different ways. Great little knife!

i liked the scout design but the blade length is almost the same to the boddington im gonna try to find one thats a little bigger

You could e-mail the super-friendly folks at Anza and ask about having them make you a Scout with a longer blade. I don't know what their maximum length is, but there's a simple way to find out.

From their website photos the Scout is actually longer than the Ranger, Boddington, or Tracker. As I read from their photos, the Scout is 12" overall, the Ranger is 11", the Boddington is under 9", and the Tracker is 9"-ish. Perhaps what you want is a 12" Tracker? :)

Funny timing on this post. a buddy of mine picked up an 86 Anza file knife at a gun show this week for $100 bucks. The knife is in great shape. He sent an email to Anza and they got back to him with alot of great information on this knife. They seem great to work with. I was thinking of getting a Boddington myself, so I'm glad to hear you're pleased. If you're able, post some pics.

A custom set of three, gave one to each of my two brothers and kept one for myself:

I have a 719 with custom handles that I picked up over on fleabay. It has a 5 1/4" blade and is just about perfect for basic utility work.

I have a small collection of stag handled Anza's, ranging from small skinners to fairy large hunters. They are made from used Nicholson files. the largest knife I own still has the Nicholson name on it and made in USA on an exposed triangular shaped rear portion of the tang/pommel and a lanyard hole. I think you call it a skull crusher. You are right, they are very underrated. They get extremely sharp and hold and edge very well and are also easy to resharpen. You have to take care of them, as they are high carbon, obviously, but I think it's worth it.

I have 2 as well. One I've been carrying for a LONG time as a necker the other is a super beater that I tried to HT but failed :/ . I love their knives and I talked to the Big Boss over there (can't remember his name) for like a half hour just shootin the breeze. Great people, great knives, NO RESPECT! They need more good PR here! ANZA OWNERS UNITE! :D

I read somewhere on these forums that knives made from files can be brittle (Anzas were not mentioned). Has anyone had any experience with this? Just checked out their website- great selection, nice blade designs- my want list just keeps going and going and....

Anza uses a process called "annealing". They heat the steel at a low temperature to soften the steel, then re-treat it to create a hardness more suitable for knives.

That's my crude understanding of the process anyway. Perhaps a search of the forum could provide more and better information.

His name is Charlie Davis, and he is a really cool dude!

I EDC'd an Anza 713 for about 12 years, replaced it with a Busse. I own and use a bunch of Anza's. They're great knives, indestructable and easy to sharpen. Charlie is great to work with, I redesigned his M4 (Model 4 JJ), had him make up a bunch and gave them away as presents.

My daughter carries a small Stag handled Anza in her back pocktet !!!

Most underrated knife out there.

I only own one anza but not for long. Im so happy with it im ordering about 2 more. Another boddington for work and a larger knife for hiking. Something along the lines of the Ranger or maybe the Scout.
