I have always been wondering - since my english skills are quite soure - what that bend, or curve, is called at the "Bowies". You know, what makes it a bowie, at the end of the blade, where it goes lower and so...is there a name for it?

I believe you are referring to a "clip-point" blade shape. That area at the tip of the blade on the spine end can either be sharpened to facilitate back cuts or left as a false edge.

By the way, welcome to BFC. The knife bug will never let you go!
Hope this helps...

Welcome to Bladeforums. The blade you are referring to is indeed called a "clip point" The cut out part is called the clip. We have several Scandinavian members here, I hope you stick around and join us. BTW, your English reads as good or better than mine!

It's a clip alright. That happens when it has a straight or concave cut made to the blade near the tip. Convex cuts are called drop points. The knowledge base in BFC (before you enter the forums) would definately help you out on the blade shape too. I was just reading over it yesterday and it makes a lot more sense here.
Oh yes, welcome to BFC!
