Recently have been made aware of these and I think they could be THE exceptional EDC for me. BUT - of course - I have questions from those who own or have handled these.

QUESTIONS

1) With the elongated hole (and I trust, the Boye craftsmanship) can I assume these knives open as 1 handed easily as Spydie hole knives?

2) Those without the hole but rather, a deep engraving - are those still pretty easy one hand openers?

3) The marlin spike has always proved useful to me but one on the outside like this is a new feature. a) Does the outside mounted marlin spike creating handling issue - such as extreme discomfort? b) Is it removable in the case that I want the option of using or not?

Not a question - I trust the reviews that the Boye Dendritic Cobalt blades are excellent at fibrous cutting tasks and the edge easily maintained. Any additional info/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

View attachment 930697 The elongated (oval) hole works fine. Hard to compare with Spyderco because they have so many patterns/sizes. The patterned depressions are actually created in the mold rather than engraved. I can vouch for the bird wing but have not tried the other recessed patterns.
The marlin spike is quite thin and is no more obtrusive than the pocket clip. It is not lockable and has a shackle wrench. It is not removable.
I use the folders in the kitchen. They make great paring knives after I modify the tips.

I have a Boye dedritic steel folder and the ergonomics and cutting ability are outstanding. You can open all his knives one handed, with hole or with the cast impression, mine is a sunburst. I have a two different sizes of his fixed blade Basic models. Excellent knives, he's a great guy to talk to as well. He ground out a chip I put in one of mine, custom Basic, for free. Many custom makers charge for repairs.
