Actually, she's learning Korean, not Japanese. ;)

The Korean hangul on the can is phonetic for the English name, meaning that if a native Korean speaker pronounced it, it would sound like "Coca-Cola Light."

Thanks Ken, I was not sure where they came from but thought it was Japan. I was in Korea and Japan on the same trip, and just dug these out of my desk where I had put all the stuff from that trip. I have been cleaning up from my travel last year, and there is a big pile of stuff that I "collected" along the way.

Really? I never would have guessed....

My college Advisor had a can of Diet Coke from Australia that he kept for the novelty of the markings and size. It was 250 ml vs. 12 oz. and seemed designed to be downed in a single gulp. The real treat was the label, which we physicists found intensely amusing:

"Low Joule Cola"
