It took me 13 years to get a picture in the book. I did get my stupid question published in Blade Mag one time in the question and answer section by Wayne Goddard. Wayne included it and his answer in his book The Wonder Of Knifemaking. It costs too much to have each knife photographed by a professional who will send the photo in to the mags. I took the picture that got published and Im surprised it was good enough. I sold that knife 3 years ago. It took them a long time to do something with it. They tell me that if the pics are great and they keep coming they will get in. Also if you advertise, which I dont, Your work will get in even if you have bad breath or smell like a dead rat. That last knife they published pf mine was 2 years old and it has taken them that long to do something with it also.I feel some of my new work would have been better but I guess that it isn't old enough yet.
Cory I don't know how it should be said but you got the idea.
I asked Alex Daniels about getting my pictures publushed and he said that he never submited any thing at first, people just started talking about his knives enough that the magazines had to take notice and they asked him for pictures and he doesn't advertise either.
Sometimes it is who you know that can put a bug in the publishers ear,or you can just start submitting pictures then start bugging the heck out of them till they publish something just to shut you up (it might work)
Like I said befor Just keep making your knives and someday you will get there.
For every knife maker you here about there is at least 3-5 makers in the same area that you don't here nothing about.
Bruce
