The Buck Hoodlum Sheath Insert Modification

Heyo Bladeforums. I recently bought the Buck Hoods Woods Hoodlum, and I think it is a very fine blade. My biggest problem with the Hoodlum is the sheath. The sheath has a very loose insert that can may as well be a very big problem for me, even with the double and triple retention system. So my questions are: Is there a way to tighten the sheath insert to the point where it shouldn't come out, even when it's bouncing and shaking all over the place? How do you do it exactly? Are there people that have the ability to do such modifications? If so, who or what would you recommend me to have those people look at my sheath and re-modify it? If you have any suggestions, please do so.

Haha I'm in a similar but different situation. I'm trying to fit a BK9 into the hoodlum sheath and have been looking into ways to loosen the sheath. Good luck

Jack0Blades - I remember reading somewhere that someone took the plastic out of the sheath (an endeavor) and just put it in boiling water for some minutes! Put the knife in and squished the whole thing like Kydex and they said it formed well and haven't heard a rattle since!

Since it IS plastic in there, I don't see why heating and re-shaping wouldn't work for opening and shrinking the sheath. In a sense, ALL plastic is thermoplastic - it will soften with heat and harden as it cools. some do better and worse when this happens, but I'm thinking the stuff in the Hoodlum sheath will do just fine.

Some pics might help. Is the insert removable? I don't like the sound of putting leather (wait, is it leather?) in hot water for long.

Edit- okay, I see that the recommendation is to remove the liner first. Good deal. If the water doesn't work, you might try a hair dryer (or heat gun- carefully).

Another option, you could always have a custom sheath made that would eliminate your problems. ;)
