First off, a great big Thank You to Chickentrax and to Joe Houser. Some of you may remember that I could not get Cabels to ship me an Alaskan Guild Hunter. They say that they will not ship a lethal weapon outside of the United States, stupid and frustrating. When Chickentrax heard about this he offered to help me get one. I bought the knife on my credit card and had it shipped to him. He then mailed the knife to me. Thank you again trax. It was a kind thing to do. So, I got the knife and I really liked it but I was still kind of miffed with Cabels for not being willing to deal direct with me so I figured ok, if you dont want me to have one I will oblige and use it for parts.
I had an old gray 560 that had been used up on a construction site. ¾ of an inch was gone off the tip of the chipped and pitted blade and the handle had little bits of concrete stuck to it but I figured it would clean up ok and be pretty good with a replacement blade. I asked trax if he would put the AG blade in the 560. He wasnt keen to do it because, at the time, he had not worked with a 560 before and felt that I should get Buck to do the work.
I contacted Joe Houser and explained what I had in mind. I asked him to put the AG blade in the 560 and to put an ATS-34 blade in the nice rosewood handle of the AG. Joe said he would do it all for just the cost of a blade upgrade to the AG handle, $35.00. I sent the two knives off and this weekend I gotm both back. The 560 has been bead blasted to get the last of the concrete off.
I call the 560 the Buckbenza because it has an S30V blade and a titanium handle just like the Sabenza.
