As some of you may know, I'm talking about the new General Electric light bulb, "Reveal." How many of you have one of these and what are your initial impressions? Thanks for your time.

I've been using them for quite a while -- love it. Before they came out I was using imported full-spectrum bulbs, expensive.

I think most people have Seasonal Affective Disorder to some extent. If you have it bad you need enormous light banks (that take a lot of electricity) and just replacing the bulbs in your current lamps is not going to be enough, but most people don't have to go to extremes like that.

I never heard of it. Thanks. I'll check it out.

I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder when the bright sunshine of spring and summer glareblinds my dark-adapted eyes and the long days interfere with my nocturnal hunting.

I have a couple of reveal lightbulbs. They have good color, but the difference is not very noticeable in my opinion. They also don't seem to be quite as bright.

The lightbulbs I really like are the compact fluorescent lightbulbs made by Sylvania available at Lowes. They cost more but save a lot of money and energy over the long run because they are so efficient.

On the other topic in this thread:
I have SAD also and my research leads me to believe that the "full spectrum" characteristic of lighting that many promote is not as important as the absolute level of brightness of the light you are exposed to. Also that typical indoor lighting is usually inadequate to treat SAD even if it is "full spectrum" lighting. Exposure to midday outdoor light is the cheapest effective treatment for SAD.
