The Busse Custom Shop is AWESOME....

I really liked my Busse Boss Street Proto, but I wasn't thrilled with it. The handles were on the thin-ish side, and it just didn't feel great in my hand overall. Also, it just lacked something in the looks department - bead blasted blade, with black (gray) micarta handles just doesn't make for a striking looking blade..

So, off to the Custom Shop she went to get some liners to improve the grip, and at the same time add a little spice to the looks of the knife. Thanks to all of your input, I went with the red liners.

It's like a different blade altogether! This thing literally feels like a completely different knife in my hands. It fills the hand perfectly, and is as comfortable and secure feeling as it gets. Garth and team did a beautiful job on this liner job and I am very grateful.

But there's more...the knife was semi-sharp (never used or sharpened) when I sent it, but it came back air-bleeding sharp!! I'm not sure who put the edge on this thing before sending it back, but it will shave hair like there's no tomorrow. This was something I didn't ask for and wasn't expecting, but the Custom Shop just can't help but over-deliver!

No, it is the same thickness/length as the standard combat grade version (referred to as combat grade). The blade is 4.25" in length and 0.22" thick. The only difference is the blade on the proto versions are not coated. I believe protos were released in both a double-cut and satin finish. A friend of mine has a CG version, and it appears identical in specs, but the handle on his seemed to fill out my hand a tiny bit bit better. I think the blade coating actually added just a tiny bit of extra thickness that made if feel better in my hand.

But with liners, this knife is just perfect IMO.
