Hi everyone. I know I don't post here too much but I've been getting into Busse knives and just staying low key. I just found someone that had these HG55 knives with the undercoated blade. I was told there were three different ones made and sold at the last Busse Show. I only got one so far but I'm going to save up to get the other two. I really love this blade, it's amazing. Fits the hand really well. As I learn more about Busse knives, I have come to realize that I like the un-coated blades the best. Busse did very well with this knife. Well here are some pictures for everyone.

Was that stripped or did it come like that? Not sure what undercoated means... it looks some kind of satin finish, but I assumed Busse wouldn't satin finish these because they don't satin finish the CGFBMs, perhaps because of the corrugations.

Cool

It came from the factory like that. Limited number made for the spring KC shoot. Pretty cool knives.

Most of them were bough by he who shall not be named.

You got the cool one first. ;) This version started life as being intended for an ordered military run...guess someone turned up a few extra blanks stashed deep at the Shop and instead of coating them, these were...well, I don't know about satin finished but they are polished up and look great nekkid. We first saw these offered to us as a limited military overrun some time back and they were desert shadow camo coated with micarta handles. :) The main difference between the MO HG55 version and the regular production run HG55 model is that the corrugated bevels on the flats of the blade stop further back from the tip on the MO version.

I was lucky enough to have a proxy there at the KC hotel show who was quick enough to snag me one and I chose this type over the other combos as it's my favorite version of the HG55.

'Gratz on your score! :D

Thanks for the info. Isn't there a quote here that goes like "Pictures or it didn't happen"

Ha! Yes, but mine looks exactly like yours, so I figure what's the point and I didn't want to steal any of your thunder. ;) :D Besides, I like your pix! :)

Busses on makisu are cool, but you can't compare them to Busses on a deck rail. We need to see them in both environments

I know I really like mine, going to probably go into a Kydex that can mount to a pack or vest:

I overlaid these two images in Photoshop--the knives are at the exact same angle :eek::confused: Jaxx, you have to be pretty precise when you get your pics up

Best way i can describe it is a bare metal finish, no pitting or anything, but it's not quite satin. And I really like the "bombproof" tip on this version, though I bet the black/tan full corrugated is pretty nice as well.

Yeah, from the pictures it's obvious that it's been worked, but if you look at onlooker's fourth picture and zoom in/enlarge, you can see on the flat of the blade grind lines going in two almost-perpendicular directions. It's interesting. I wonder if Busse has some unknown half-satin or cross-satin finish.

Mine has those lines as well. Also small "spots". Cheers!
