I bought a Cara Cara 2 FRN/Combo Edge to see what they look like and to toss in my glovebox. Very happy with the value, design etc. So I ordered a Meadowlark 2 FRN to take with me to San Francisco in my check in luggage. If the TSA while randomly looking for bombs, jewelry, watches, or anything else they can steal, then the $17 I paid for the Byrd will be no big deal.

The Meadowlark 2 is a fantastic knife....Build and finish is near flawless. Grind is perfectly even and shaving sharp. Blade is perfectly centered and has zero play in any direction. The ONLY flaw I could find is the mold marks on the inside of the FRN.

As a Spyderco fan, these are imho the absolute best value in the knife world.

Sorry to say my experience with Byrd was not as good as yours. Maybe they've improved in the last few years.

I also had some issues, albeit some i could have ignored like a little bit of blade play, sharp edges everywhere including the frn, and grimy opening. But for twenty dollars shipped i cant complain.it gives me the delica feel at a fraction of the cost. 8Cr13MoV is very nice steel for edc
