The Central States Hammer-In

This Sept. 9th a new event will occur for the custom knife community. For the first time ever the custom knife organizations of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma & Arkansas will be combining efforts to sponsor a hammer-in/knife show. This will be a traveling event to be held each of the four states every four years with Missouri being the first to host it. It is scheduled this year for Sept. 9, 2017 to be held in The Finley River Park in Ozark, Mo. There will be a knife show with many of the countries top makers as well as continuous demonstrations followed by a cutting competition.

The demonstration schedule is as follows:

Forging a Hunter--Jim Crowell, MS

11AM-11:30AM
Tapering a Full Tang--Ron Newton, MS

11:30-Noon
Grinding & H/T'ing a Hunter--Paul Brown

Noon-1PM
Lunch Break

1:00Pm-1:30PM
The Perfect Plunge Grind--Ron Newton, MS

1:30PM-2PM
Grinding a Push Dagger--Jim McGuinn

2PM-3PM
The History & Theory of Damascus Steel
(Wootz to Present)--Gary Mulkey

3PM-4PM
Forging an Integral Blade--Ray Kirk, MS

This will be followed by a cutting competition.

This shapes up to be a "Don't Miss" event and I hope that you can join in on the fun. This event is free to the public and I hope to see you there.
