Got some new Kydex in from Al Welke last Friday evening for my Tanker Grey CGNMFSH (in Safety Yellow to go with the G10 scales), so of course I had to get the knife out for a fitting. This lead to me leaving her in her new dress by the bedside overnight, then waking up to her pretty face the next morning where she was begging me to be used and abused. :p It just so happened that I had some Springtime tree and bush trimming needing to be done (along with some cardboard boxes that needed to be cut smaller for the recycle bin), so it was a match made in heaven!!! ;) After it was all said and done, I have to say this blade is a REAL sweetheart! If you haven’t received yours yet, you are in for a real treat!!!

Of course, while I was putting her to task, I had to do some further chopping and beat the new off of her to see just what this blade was capable of. :D While only 9 ½” long, since the blade stock is 5/16” thick, this knife still carries quite a bit of heft to it. However, with the full-height flat grind and a 2” width spine-to-edge, it is still surprisingly thin just behind the edge (~0.050”). (For those not wanting to do the math, that equates to roughly a 9 degree inclusive primary grind.) These features combine to make the CGNMFSH a chopping machine!!!

Anyway, enough talk! On to the pictures!!!

Beefy tip. Stabbing is NO problem. I doubt anyone will be breaking the tip off of these knives. ;) Note some of the small Cherry branches I’d just trimmed laying on the pile of wood in the background – they’re roughly ½” to ¾” thick, and I can literally dice them like carrots with the CGNMFSH. :D

She bites HARD and DEEP with minimal effort in this softer wood (slightly seasoned Cottonwood)

My first half-hearted swing into some well-seasoned Honey Locust (and I missed the sweet spot). This branch is about 2” thick.

Through the entire branch in 7 good swings. It bites nearly as deep as my 1311, without any vibration whatsoever. Just nice, solid hits.

Finally, here’s one posing with the new Kydex from Al! That “Safety Yellow” sure is bright!!!

One last item I will make note of is that this new sparkly “Unicorn” version of the Tanker Grey coating I got isn’t very thick, and seems to be removed during chopping a fair bit easier than any other Bussekin coating I’ve previously experienced. It definitely isn’t anywhere near as rugged as the Black or Sage crinkle coat, and certainly isn’t nearly as thick as the previous Tanker Gray colored knife I’ve handled. Having said that, I personally don’t really care as once it is really worn I might go ahead and strip this one and do my own satin job with some Scotchbrite belts.

Anyway, I LOVE this knife!!! Busse knocked this one out of the park IMO! It is such a well-balanced package in this size (figuratively AND literally), and while though it is a bit on the heavy side, that is part of why it excels at certain tasks it couldn't otherwise.

LONG LIVE THE CGNMFSH!!!

That knife is bad to the bone, I still need one of these! Thnks for the user pics!

Great pictures  it just shows how incredibly awesome the CGNMFSH is! That sheath really is bright, holy smokes! You won't have to worry about losing that bad boy

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! This knife is just downright AWESOME!!! It's a bit large/heavy for hunting, but will make a GREAT camp knife.

Rob, show him the MOAB in use shots:)

HA HA!!! No, no, I've seen those, no need. The MOAB is, well, the MOTHER of ALL... :D I just can't afford one. :(

NMFSHCG is a beast. It's my first Busse but it blows my mind how good a chopper it is even complained to other good choppers. I think when I get back home I'm going to write a poorly written review and post some pics of its second outing. It was beyond worth the wait tho. Now I want a NMFBM...
