A little bit ago, I started a thread talking about a knife I made and it's resemblance to Chavar's Fang knives. Well, here it is:

That's a fine looking knife. To my mind, there's only a passing resemblance between your knife and Ed Chavar's Fang -- there's no reason why anyone should consider that anything but your own creation.

Thank you very much -- I had fun making it, and got to tear up some boxes with it after buying some new deck furniture.

Actually, I like your knife better. The handle and finger cut out look more comfortable to me than on the Chavar knife, which has a pointy handle and seemingly sharp edges on the finger cut out. What steel is this knife of yours?

It's 1095. It's a comfortable little guy to hold.

Any more thoughts on it's resemblance to the Chavar fangs?

I just ran across this thread. I don't have a problem at all with your design. The knife you made seems to be a great little piece. I hope that you enjoy making them and others and hopefully can sell a few as well. Good luck.

This is why I love this board, and knifemaking in general. All us newbies can be helped out by all th better known makers, and as this shows, the better known makers, and knife knuts in general, tend to be very nice, upstanding fokls happy to help each other out. First class Mr. Chavar. :)

Thank you Mr. Chavar -- since you probably didn't read the previous topic about this knife, I had made this knife and then was cruising Bladeart and found your Fangs. I felt it was too close to your design to put my mark on it. I don't plan on making or selling any of these, I'm just a hobbyist and like to keep them for myself. But, I think now I will at least put my mark on it (trophy shop engraving). Once again, thanks.
