What knives have you had that you let go (sell, trade, gift,...) that have come back into your possession?

I find that the longer I'm in this hobby, there are a few knives that have circulated among guys I know. A couple of them have gone out from my collection and even been traded around out there, only to eventually make their way back to me.

I currently have a Gayle Bradley 2 that made a loop, and is now back in my permanent keep (I've modified it and it has a patina, and it's just grown on me as one of my 2 favorite knives - It's home for good).

The other item that comes to mind are a set of custom scales for a GSO 4.7 in curly Koa that made it to a couple other guys before being back on my knife for good.

I'm not talking about buying a duplicate or replacing one you let go. What specific boomerang knives do you have.

PM2, I sold the s30v and got a s110, I dont sell most of my collection I generally give away the cheap ones to friends

I can only think of one. A Benchmade 551 Griptilian that went to a neighbor. I had another Griptilian in D2 steel so my basic 154cm version was considered excess. So, off it went.

One day last March or April it dawned on me that I had parted with a knife that I used and carried quite often and had kept one that I hardly used. Why would I do that?
I guess I considered one better than the other because of the steel upgrade. I have rarely carried the D2 and don't have any real memories tied to it. Maybe it's because of the combo edge.

The plain edged, 154cm model, however, was what I reached for any time I needed a larger folder than my Benchmade 531 or Kershaw Zing. I had won it as part of a GAW here on Blade Forums.com and it was the knife of choice for the road trip out of state when my daughter started school at BYU Idaho. Yes, there were a few memories attached to that knife. Why did I ever part with it?

I am happy to say that it is now within arms reach and it recently went on another road trip. This time it was for my daughter's wedding. I figured it only fitting to carry the same knife. This time it had a limited edition Case Trapper to keep it company. The Trapper was used at the wedding reception and will be passed on to a child of my daughter and son-in-law. If They ever have any.

I need to call them and informed the two lovebirds that I am not getting any younger so they had better get to work.

Always a delica and or endura. I buy and use for a while then gift. I am without either at the moment after gifting my last delica to my neighbors son

Me and a buddy of mine passed a Microtech Socom Elite with anopeen blade finish back and forth at least 6 times for $100 each time. It all depended on who needed money for the gun show.

The last time, he asked me if I wanted it back because he was heading to a gun show. I didn’t have the $100 to spare at the time so he sold it at the gun show (for MUCH more than $100 and split the profit with me).

Man, I’d kill to have that knife back.

That’s why I hoard... no seriously after this years club knife and a couple variations of gec 29s and when bladehq releases the cf inlayed Small Inkosi insingo I plan on slowing down. Maybe the small seb lunar landing. Couldn’t pass up a case barlow with the pen in front of the main if I saw one on the bay

I have a Fallkniven F1 that I have passed around for years. It always makes its way back home. It resides in my trunk bag now, and isn't going anywhere.

I've had a Burch V2 midtech and a Ferrum Forge Septer come back after I had traded them. I didn't realize how much I liked them till they were gone, so I jumped when the respective chances to get them back were presented.

I see a lot of the cycle of trading, buying, and selling on Instagram, and I've been offered knives I used to own more than a few times without the seller/trader knowing I used to own them. I've also seen buddies get knives that used to be mine with at least 3 different owners between us. I enjoy seeing this sort of activity, though it's even better when a knife I owned finds a permanent home with someone who appreciates and/or uses it more than I did.

Good stories.

When I started this thread, I was just back in touch with a guy I sold a custom-handled fixed blade with a nice pocket sheath and asked if he would consider selling it back. He had another user in that same model and considered the custom too nice to use so he agreed to send it back to me. I thought that was really cool... now I just gotta save up the scratch to pay for it...
