I really like SOG knives, so I got a FlashII. I realy like the clip because it made the knife ride very low in my pocket. But when I got mine in the mail, rather that ridges on the clip it had a three oblong holes drilled in to it. These holes made the clip very weak, the clip was attacked to knife by two very small pieces of metal. the clip broke and when I called the company they charged my $5 bucks for a new one. $5 bucks is pretty resonable so I payed and got a new clip. It is a better clip because it is not riddled with holes.

The problem is that a knife represents something speical to me. Lives depend on the preformance of your knife. This means that knife makers have a responcablity to make quality items. the clip I got was defective. I have a craftsman handdrill with twice as many parts that has a lifetime warranty and was cheaper. There is another problem, I need some exotic wrench to change the clip. Sog would have sold me one for $5.

Should SOG have fixed my knife for free or am I just a cheap skate looking for a hook up.

From the sounds of it, SOG should fix it for free. They do have a warranty and I'd be surprised if they didn't honor it. $5.00 for the clip? That's a lot considering that I lost a pocket clip on my Benchmade AFCK and they sent me TWO POCKET CLIPS WITH SCREWS at NO CHARGE. I hope that helps Hotswat. Maybe Ron Anderson from SOG will read this and give you a little sympathy. I hear he's a great guy.
Good luck!:)

Ron Andersen (who used to work for SOG) is a "great guy" (at least so I have heard). ;)

My guess is that you were not necessarily charged for the "clip" but rather for the shipping/handling associated with sending the clip out to you. Under my policy/administration, I sent out clips free of charge and did not ask for the shipping/handling to be reimbursed.

But times change...as does the management (and associated policies) of a company.

the clip was $5 bucks and they charged $2 dollars shipping. These charges are begining to worrying me since my Pentagon II needs a tune-up. I wonder how much that's gonna cost me?

My SOG Pentagon Elite II is given to my friend (not a knife knut.... read: will beat the crap out of that knife) because SOG refuse to send/sell me replacement washers.I've since upgrade it to bronze washers before giving it away.

I prefer using other knives now as I'm assured that I'll get excellent customer service when I need a tune-up.

Do a search and you'll find out why I can't send my knife back to SOG.

BTW I've also sold/trade all my SOG multi-tool and knives, including a 1st generation carbon steel Tiger Shark.
