I have been looking for a Victorinox Farmer in blue. As far as I can tell there are two shades of blue. According to some pictures. One is dull; more midnight/navy and the other is bright. Can anybody confirm this? Or better yet, a picture of both in the sunlight.

Plus, I’m assuming that when the Alox starts to scratch the aluminum will show through. Knowing this I’m betting if one wants to his Alox looking new then the silver Alox is the one to get. Or at least get both; silver and blue.

I don't know about different shades of Alox blue, but I just got a Blue Alox Farmer, and yes when you scratch it, the silver underneath shows. It's a beautiful blue, and I think mine is more of a bright blue.

I scratched mine, grinding the key ring attachment off of it. Just a small < 1mm scratch, but it's there.. and it sort of bothers me. I'm not one to collect though, so it'll have it's share of add'l scratches soon enough.

This is a very nice knife. I like that the Farmer's alox scales are thinner then the red plastic ones, tougher, and that on this series of knives, the blade is thicker then on most SAK's and with a stronger spring.

If you don't want scratches, the silver Alox is definately your answer. Great deals on these knives online. At $20 or less.. you can't go wrong.

I had no idea there was such a following for these SAK's in particular.. but have seen many reviews and comments and am now a big fan.
