I posted this over at AAPK.

Somehow I ended up with 20 of these

These have something in common.

I think I got all the number 02s except the genuine stag.

I probably won't keep all these, I would buy one and then a #02 would pop up and I'd get another.

uhm... I am speechless... and I thought my addiction to GEC was bad... Great collection, thansk for sharing ^^

Outstanding collection!

I must admit that I feel a pull to the GEC conductor's. Kind of like a peanut in some ways. Small, easy to pocket, yet a certain flair and style about them. Elegance comes to mind. Especially the stag!

Carl.

Thanks! They're all very nice but my favorites are the wood handled ones and the buffalo horn. The stag on the two on each end of the last row is also real impressive. I don't own any GEC knives yet but the conductor is looking very nice... and the dogleg... and the rancher... uh oh. ;)

Beautiful collection, Eric, you are definitely the MAN when it comes to GEC collections. I sure wish you could find the time to post some of your 1s and 2s of a kind (I know you must have some) in rare handle materials in the other Rare GEC thread; it would be a treat for everyone.

What is interesting to me is how certain features and handle materials go better with certain patterns. For instance, I think the best looking Conductor is the Tidioute Tortoise Acrylic, with the smooth bolsters and plain bar shield. Yet on the #72 Lockback, the burnt and red stag Northfields with the lined bolsters looked fantastic. Come to think of it, this discussion would make for a good thread on it's own.

I'm waiting for GEC to come out with the #33 with a clip main and sheepfoot secondary. They put both curved edges on the first models, then put both straight edges on the second round. WHY NOT ONE OF EACH!!

Many congrats, Eric, on the low numbers. Some seem not to care too much about serial numbers, but so many low ones makes a better collection in my mind.

I like the bails on those #33 conductors it may not be all that practical but it sure does look cool.

eswartz is'nt the last wood in the 2nd pic that new geiuna or australian stuff about 50 yrs. old? fantastic lineup.--dennis

Comprehensive Conductors there, what a haul! You must be waiting at the factory gates to get 'em en masse before they escape:D

Some rare stuff there too a Turquoise with a bail? Didn't even KNOW this one was fitted with Dead Skunk at all. Do you have a particular favourite?

Fine knives, but I'd like to assure others that this pattern is a fine user too, small but very credible blades and top notch finish.

I agree, I would have preferred this pattern with a clip and a coping. I usually don't go for serial numbers, but in the case of a PPP I try to get the number twos, and maybe a prototype to make a collection. That way you have the first knife of the pattern ever made. :)

Yeah, I ended up with 2 of the kauri woods. I bought one and then sometime later the #2 became available and I bought it, too.

I'd like to go to the factory one day, but this is just too much refreshing of dealer sites and jumping on ones when they come available. I like all of them, but I chose the red apple bone as a user. I may also use the unnumbered stag as a user. I guess those are my two favorites. The dead skunks are a proto and short run unnumbered. Turquoise was also a short run.

Thanks for the info.

Really certain we'd ALL like to visit their factory, especially if they had a lock-in:D:thumbup:

That tortoise really appeals to me as well. It may well end up being my 1st acrylic GEC. I'm also anxious to see what all other blade combos they use this frame for. You gotta think this will be the basis of their soon to be released Courthouse Whittler.

Let me tell you, the Tortoise is FANTASTIC stuff, looks a century old (major compliment)
