new EDC.
Gang- I handled my first CRKT M16 folder a few years ago and was really impressed with this folder but did not buy one because I had my favorite folder in my pocket. But recently, the Orange M16 E R caught my eye and I got one. I am beyond impressed. The F&F is fantastic. The folder feels great in the hand. The flipper effortlessly fires the blade and the size and weight of this folder is just right, imo. All for around $40. Go get one and see. Why pay more?

I have the same one, among other versions. It is a great design. What attracts me is the simplicity of them.

Has CRKT upped their production and finish lately or was I unlucky with some of their offerings?

Whatever, the M16-M24 line is quite the bang for the buck.

I was always satisfied with CRKT F&F. Try them again.
I forgot to mention that the CRKT dual grind chisel edge is right up my ally.

I had a M21-04 for a few years, then gave it to a friend in 2007, he still uses it. I was always impressed with it and wouldnt mind getting another. Glad to hear CRKT still makes a decent knife.

Good morning Rolf. I had my first crkt m16 back in high school got it from walmart, at that time I think it's one of the best tactical folders. I have to have one again! :D

I have carried one on patrol for years. It is pretty beat up now and the liners have some surface rust but I keep the blade sharp so it still does the job. It fits perfectly in the scissor pocket on my duty pants so it is always easily accessible. I wouldn't want to carry anything more expensive at work anyway.

One of the few CRKT's that I have really liked. The M16-14ZER is my truck knife, stays in my center console all the time. I have to say it flips like a dream because of the big heavy blade. I don't like the auto-lawks but can see the reasoning on a knife designed for rescue. The reason I like it for the truck is it has a glass breaker, belt cutter, is partially serrated, and has a razor sharp chisel grind. All of these seem right at home for a knife that stays in your vehicle.

Thanks guys and thanks for the pix esch.
Hi Benjamin.
I was not crazy about the LAWKS at first but I like it now. Kinda like the Compression lock.
I put one in my Wife's glove compartment also. Good idea.

I had one years ago and I really liked it.I used it as a deck hand in Alaska so it took a beating and held up well.It was my first flipper,I might have to pick up another. Rolf your a jerk for making want ANOTHER knife!haha

I had a red one that I gave to my nephew after he completed his Fire/EMT training. He edc's it every day. The red must be discontinued because all his buddies are after it, they all have orange as red is nowhere to be found.
If you open up the knife and remove the spring on the auto lock it becomes manual. The knife can be used without it and if you want that extra bit of protection you just slide the lever manually into the lock position. When you are ready to close the blade, slide the lever back and your set.

I have a pair of them- 4" blades and aluminum scales. The M16 is an older one with the LAWKS system, the M21 is newer and has the auto-LAWKS. The liner lock seems a bit weak, I can see it flex when I push on the blade. The LAWKS should help but I haven't really put it to the test yet. Other than the lock they seem to be pretty tough.

I'd get a Big Dog M16 but it'd weight more that my SnG or my CQC7!

Yep!
At first I was not sure about the seat belt cutter but you are correct! This folder is a great design.
My Wife now has an M16ER in her car glove compartment.
