Didn't know where to post this so I figured I'd put it in the forum I frequent. I'm a fairly new collector of axes and vintage tools and in that time have come to rely on this forum and it's member's expertise frequently. Thanks to you all for teaching me a lot of what I have learned to date and for the future lessons you will no doubt provide.

I know everyone loves pics so here are a few of my most recent restoration of what I believe to be a Woodings Verona. I have an ID question but I will put that in a separate post. Thanks for looking.

Whatever the origin of that axe (nice job on the hang, and choice of haft grain, by the way) it certainly appears that the entire head is hardened. The emergency axes in school buses here look just like that and have the very same set of casting ridges and grinder marks on them. They have a deeply embossed 'CT' (Council Tools) mark on them, also on the right side of the head (which is unusual for stamps), very much like your 'US07'.
How's about I venture a guess that this is a Council-made US gov't supply contract item from 2007.
