OK guys and Gals,

I need some help here. So I cannot count the number of youtube reviews and other reviews of folders where someone is always talking Deep Carry Pocket Clip. Is there a shallow carry pocket Clip? If so can someone point to one so I can see what it looks like... I know some are saying well its really deep riding clip. Is this just a fancy name to say the knife has a clip? I have been waiting forever to see a Shallow carry clip:confused:

Deep carry clips bury or hide the entire knife so you only see the clip (no knife sticking out of the pocket)

Most pocket clips will allow 1/2 an inch or so of the end of the knife to stick out of your pocket.

Deep carry means that very little of the butt of the knife is poking out of your pocket. Or it keeps the entire knife under the pocket line.

With deep carry you get very good concealment with just the clip showing. On a regular clip you will have some sticking out but it's easier to draw out.

Here are two different styles of pocket clips on similar knives. The first one is the standard Strider pocket clip.
The second is Mick's newer style of deep carry pocket clip.

Thanks Guys! So I look at both designs here as Deep. Depending on what I am carrying both designs seem appropriate at different times. What are your preferences? If I have a sub 4" folder I like to carry way down in the pocket where its about having a knife but hard to tell. When I carry my Hinderer XM, well I rather have it stick out just a tad. Heck when they become that large its hard to bury them all the way anyway right?

Appreciate the feedback Guys, TD

It all comes down to preference. I personally can't stand deep carry clips as they make grabbing the knife much more difficult for me. The only knife that I have with a deep carry clip (aftermarket) is my Benchmade Kulgera. I carry it in the office and it simply looks like a pen clip.

How do i get one of these Mick clips, ive never bought a strider cause i dont like the clips.
But that changes the game for me

Tip down folders work well with either deep carry or not. Tip up folders are much more difficult with deep carry.

You may look at both designs as "Deep" but by convention, the deep carry clip tries to have the bend of the clip close to or flush with the butt of the handle whereas the standard clip gets situated such that a portion of the handle's butt is still sticking out when the clip is fully engaged.

Some people prefer the deep carry to either minimize snagging or having a portion of the knife visible. Others prefer the standard as it may facilitate getting the knife out.

The deep carry clips from Benchmade are not so tight as their regular clips, ideal for saving pockets ;) (or losing your knife:D)

I like 'em. I put them on all my Spydies. Firstly they Ti and they not shiny and attract attention. And most importantly they conceal the knife. Where I live it's illegal to carry a knife.

I live in Israel. Same rule here as in UK. But the police here not that strict. Funny thing is that if I carry a Leatherman on my belt which has a locking blade - no one bats an eye. But if I pull my Dragonfly2 to cut an apple everyone looses their mind.

I'd heard that, but this one is actually tighter than the one that came with it. I think I caught it on something and bent it slightly.

But I was worried that it wouldn't be tight enough or springy enough. I was pleasantly surprised. But I've thought of finding a titanium one too.

Thanks for demonstrating deep carry clips can still be secure enough to hold your knife to your pocket even when you're upside down.

You're in Israel and you're not allowed to carry knives??? But aren't people allowed to carry guns and even rifles in the open?

People who have permit are allowed. But it's really hard to get one.
