After a little delay I was able to take a personal look at the first Collaboration knife made by two long term associates, John Gonzalez (Dervish Knives) and Ram Maramba (Zero Knives).
The specs are:
Steel: 5160, hand rubbed finish
Ironwood scales with dovetailed carbon fiber bolsters
Blade (tip to bolster): 8.5"
Total length: 14.5 inches
tooled leather sheath
I met these crazy clowns (not to mention their more long distance colleague in steel dust, Dav Winch) more than just a few years ago after I had the opportunity to buy a few knives (including a few prototypes/one-offs) from each.
I stumbled upon the recent sale of their first Collaboration Knife that John had posted (while in a meeting) and in spite of the obvious distractions I was able to buy same.
Now this blade is the first collaboration knife (I like the term "FUSION") from these two very humble makers and in spite of their modesty, THIS IS A FANTASTIC KNIFE!!! I may have referred to it as a Parang but but more accurately should have been referred to as a Barong. Either way and by any name (a rose is a rose is a rose), this is a one of a kind for the time being...
I will let the photos and video speak for themselves and I should apologize in advance for my being somewhat flustered by her revelation but I believe that have successfully recovered.
Original Photos compliments of John and Ram respectively:
