I've just seen an advert for the film "The Descent" on the telly. I've never heard of it before, but it sounds good - anyone else know about it?

I believe the Brit-made horror films are coming into their own. I read that the people who made DOG SOLDIERS (which I also RECOMMEND) in 2001 (?) were the ones who made this one too.
It was shown here already here in the Philippines about 2 mos. (?) ago?
Bottomline, it was INTENSE! It had a biting, raw quality about it, plus a bit of gore (though it might be too intense for some), much more psychologically involving than the US film THE CAVE. For me, it just doesn't compare. The Cave feels more sci-fi while The Descent is more like a "George Romero-esque". Although all the main characters were women, its definitely not a chick flick!!! One character called "Juno" is a Fil-Aussie by the name of Natalie Mendoza who's "athletically hot".

Saw it a few months back and it rocks. The DVD is out on Monday and you have to buy it. 100 times better than The Cave. It's such a raw horror movie. Very creative and i'm still looking forward to someone identifying the knife one of the character whips out.

I saw this movie at the cinema!
Pretty scary! One of the gals in it played the female Captain attached to the SAS CRW team in "Ultimate Force" on ITV, & the main actress played a MI5 analyst in "Spooks" on BBC1.
It has a pretty low-budget feel to it, very similar to Dog Soldiers (gotta watch THAT again tonite on DVD), and from a BladeForums point of view they make pretty good use of their ice-axes when the SHTF.
And, the ending just blew me away, What a shocker!!!!
Watch it! Although, I dont think Id watch it more than once, so maybe rent rather than buy.

A one sitting read, imho. Just the right mix of horror/action/intellectualism. A lot of reveiws didn't like the intellectualism in this (or the author's other books) but that probably because they are undereducated *********.
