This is the eleventh day of my recuperation from back surgery.

In 1978 I had my first back surgery. It was almost identical to the one I had this time. At day eleven, following doctor's orders, I began running and ran two miles the first time out.

Today at day eleven I am still sore, walking bent over after any significant time sitting, and my best friend is named Lortab.
The old leg numbness is gone, my left foot no longer goes dead, and the pain is associated with the incision and with muscles adjusting to walking normally again. All signs are that, with time, I will be able to trash the cane and start getting back in shape. The lack of exercise has been driving me batty for months. Maybe I will become competitive at the trough again!

Great news Mike! Glad to hear it went well:cool:

Except for the little part about the trough;):D

Go easy big man:thumbup:

Great news! Hope you continue to heal and get better everyday.

Mike,
Glad the surgery went well and glad the days ahead of you are brighter than the ones behind. Keep the faith and take it one day at a time.

:thumbup:Glad to hear your surgery was successful. Go gradually with the PT:)

Good luck with everything, Mike! It is great to hear that your back is feeling better. Even though it will take time for the wounds to heal, at least you can find comfort in knowing that the surgery has been successful. Keep us updated on everything :D

Keep your head up Mike. I had back surgery a few years back (I was 28) and hope to avoid having another in the future. It can be a frustrating and rough time.

I'm back to mountain biking and hiking and all that good stuff, and I'm sure you will be too. 11 days is not a long time. I think I was out 3 months before I could resume cycling and weight lifting. Sounds like the surgery worked and it's just a matter of time before you are back at it!

as long as the surgery went well you can always get back to the exercise soon enough take it easy glad to hear your doing better.
