I'm looking forward to getting a Top-Popper. Does any one know when it comes out and how much it will cost? Do ShivWorks knives come with a warranty, and if so what is it?

Despite the fact that you can open a bottle with it, it's still a brass knuckle, and brass knuckles are illegal almost everywhere. I doubt that there's a cop in the country that would not arrest you if you hit someone with one of these.

bsjoelbs,
The Top-popper is supposed to have its first batch out this month. There isn't a firm price yet that I'm aware of, but we should know soon. If you hang out either at SDF or USN you'll find a thread started at each forum concerning this particular item, along with an email address to send your inquiries to. I believe the Shivworks website is just www.shivworks.com, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure what kind of warantee is on the knives, being mid-techs. Nice knives, though. I'm sure if you searched Google or some such you'd find the address and you could ask them yourself.

As for being brass knuckles, yes they can be used as such, and yes you'd get arrested for hitting someone with it. You'd also get arrested for hitting someone with an improvised device such as a glass, book, etc. No matter what the object it still comes down to assault. The point is that you should be a grown-up and not flash things around. Nor should you engage in childish and meaningless arguments and physical disputes (i.e. fighting). If you CAN'T get by w/o being a jerk, then you deserve to get first beaten, then arrested. As for those who choose to carry SD items and use them responsibly (i.e. hopefully never), and thus keep a low profile, I don't really see the harm. Yeah, the cop is gonna be upset, but if its either you get away safely or worry about some imaginary cop's reaction (which will vary by officer and the kind of day they're having), I'll take the first option. Legality is nice, but getting home in one piece is nicer. Just my opinion.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Interesting little gadget. It's something that should be used with discretion and common sense.
