I recently purchased this knife, a Scrap Yard "Dog Father" from a friend of mine and I just had to give it a good wringing out asap. There is a pine tree behind my house that fell a few months ago from a high wind storm and it made for a good test medium for the knife. I also took along "old faithful", a Ontario Spec Plus survival Bowie, as competition for it. First I chopped off several limbs alternating from one knife to the other. They were about equal as far as chopping off small limbs approx 1" to 2" in diameter. Then I began to chop the tree into about 6' back from the end where it was about 6" to 8" in diameter. Thats where the "Dog" really began to shine. The extra weight of the thicker blade made deeper cuts and it easily out performed the "Spec" in heavy chopping. Then I tested the "Dogs" point strength by stabbing it as deep as I could into the tree and prying it out sideways. It passed this test with no problems what so ever! No bending, no breaking, and I could feel very little flexing in the entire blade. This knife is strong! I tried the "spec" in the same manner and stopped quickly because I could feel the tip flexing severly when prying it out. It didn't bend or break but I felt it soon would if I continued. After giving both knives a good cleaning I tested sharpness of both and found that the "Spec" had totally lost its hair shaving edge while I could detect hardly any loss of sharpness in the "Dog Father" as it still shaved hair from my arm and I did considerable more chopping with it than the "spec". If you want a knife that is as strong as an anvil and holds an outstanding edge, then you need look no further than Scrap Yard Knives!
