I think everyone on here now knows Maisy but dogs have always been an important part of my childhood and have given me many great memories so I thought I'd dig out some old pics of some of the other canine companions I have had !!!
When I went to find pics to scan I couldn't find the ones I wanted, ain't that typical, but I did find these !

This was Jake, a Cocker spaniel, dumb as a brick but very loving a great first dog for me as a little kid !

I can't find any pics of my 2nd dog who was a Samoyed called Sam ( origional eh ! )

This was my 3rd dog, a Bedlington terrier called Coco ! If any of you don't know about Bedlingtons don't judge them on their looks, these little thing are IMO one of the very best hunting dogs you can get !!!
Everytime I took Coco a walk he would come back with a rabbit. Coco killed his first rat when still only a young pup, he had tried to play with it until it bit his nose and then it was game on.He hated rats from that day and killed many ! He even used to flush out pheasants and then race across the fields watching where they flew until they tired and had to land again where he would then get them...it was unreal to see!!!!

My dad then got Blue, another Bedlington, as a companion for Coco. Blue was bred as a show dog where as Coco was a working dog. Although not quite as strong and fast as Coco, Blue still caught the odd rabbit.

When Coco sadly passed away my dad bought Barney, a great huge Airedale terrier, Barney was also an awesome dog, very protective of family and very smart. Here is a pic of a very young Pit with Barney.....

And one of Barney teasing Blue to give you a size comparison !!!

I left home while my parents still had Barney and eventually and soon went on to get my own dog Maisy.......looking forward to getting Maisy's companion now !!!!:D

I love these types of threads, wish I could see pics from work.

Sunny was one of those one in a million dogs. Presumably a golden retreiver, my parents found him wandering the streets of Baltimore, took him in, and he was the babysitter for myself, my sister and a few puppies. I don't have any favorite pups, but he was one of the best.

Rinny was a Siberian Husky/junkyard dog mix with a bad attitude, but he mellowed out in the last few years of his life.

Nick was a yellow Labrador/German Shepherd mix. Sunny took him under his wing, probably why he was such a good pup.

Moon was a golden retriever, a good pup that was taken too soon out on the road, with Nick. Nick survived, but wouldn't leave his buddys side.

Gus was a golden retreiver also, a beast with a good heart. Not so gentle giant all the time. Taken early too.

Beau, Remington and Doc are all good pups. Beau is the oldest and has taken the mantle of "pop" to Remington and Doc. Doesn't mean he can't have a good time, or make trouble. The three stooges are a handful, but, all three are good pups.

I have pics at home of the current knuckleheads, gonna look for pics of the other pups.

Sorry for the thread jack, Pit.

I grew up on a Farm/Ranch and the dog was a Hugh part of my life. However I was fortunate enough to only have had one dog. My Grandma gave him to me when I was 5 and he was still going strong when I was 18 and went into the military. According to my younger brother, the old guy disappeared when he was about 16.

Great dogs pit while I did not have but one dog growing up ,a few years ago I had a large Airedale named Briar who was shot from hiding while standing at my feet he was a real crackerjack and a great companion. I now have a Wolf shepherd that I would gladly risk my life to protect.
That is a great looking airedale.

Great looking buddies, pitdog! I had a couple more before these but couldn't find any pixs. All of 'em were strays I picked up off the street or at animal adoptions except for the 2 Scotties. Casper in the bottom right is my current buddy.

We had a great beagle/harrier named Hurry Back Jack. He was a dumb dog, but loved the chase, rabbit hunting, barking and howling, and finding trouble. I was sad when he passed. Dumb dogs rock.

Pitdog,
Here is a pic of a pit-dog. This is my kids first dog, so I'm sure there will be a lot of memories of her in their future

I have had dogs for most of my life too.
Beagles, German Shepard, Great Pyrenees, Golden Retriever, Rottweiller, Lab, Poodle. Mostly big dogs, with the small ones as a child (my mom was afraid of big dogs).

Gespenst,
Thanks, incredible how many compliments my furry girl gets. She has a disposition to match, God help the stranger though who gets between her and our girls. If I raise my voice at them she steps in the middlle, and from rough-housing with her I've learned she's about as tenacious a dog as I've met when I wind her up.

Pit - nice assortment of breeds

I've just had "muts" growing up ... but they were all great

I miss every dog I ever had. Badly.

Their greatest gift is the joy they bring; their cruelest pain is how short their lives are.

Hmmmm... to me, this guy looks more like an American Water Spaniel or a Springer mix than a Cocker Spaniel. :)

I have a friend who has this HUGE picture of a German Shepard named King in his living room. It is mounted and looks great. You DON'T joke about King. ;)
