The downside of owning too many knives

Rifle hunting season for deer starts here tomorrow and I just can't decide which knife to take with me. Part of me says go with the old standby Beretta Loveless Hunter, but I'm also thinking about taking the Entrek Companion I bought this spring. Or maybe I should just bite the bullet (metaphorically speaking, of course) and take the unused Dozier Buffalo River Hunter I bought a couple of years ago that has just been a safe queen.

It's a nice problem to have. I really want to see if the legendary Dozier lives up to its reputation, but I also know I'll knock about $50 off of the resale value the moment a drop of blood touches the blade. On the other hand I've put it up for sale/trade and haven't exactly been overwhelmed with the offers I've gotten. Decisions, decisions!

Nice problem to have, as you say. If you're thinking resale, leave it at home. But surely you have some "users" that you don't intend to sell soon.

Try it out ! You bought it to see "if the legendary Dozier lives up to its reputation", so now's your chance to find out the answer. As you say, even new there's not much demand for it on the secondary market, so you'd have to take a loss to sell it. Carefully used the price won't be that much different. Doziers are user knives.
I've used Doziers, Kreins, and lots of other more expensive knives to field dress deer, but the slickest sharpest throughout ever was a Rough Rider Jumbo Trapper. It surprised the heck out of me too, even slowed down my custom knife buying for a few weeks.
Don't be a 'woos' with your knives.

Id bloody up the Dozer.Clean it up after,it wont lose much value if you decide to sell it.Especially if you have a good story to sell with it.( : Good luck any way you go.Dont shoot your foot.

It's like too many watches and Zippos, which one to pick for the day, a good problem to have.

I've found if I have something that isn't collectable and I'm not using it, I sell it.

Good luck!
