The DPX HEFT 4 assault

Are you still liking this knife? It's available for $100 right now on a promo from DPX (for either the HEFT 4 Assault or the HEST Assault), and I've been trying to do some research on it, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info out there about it. I am wondering how it compares to other knives in the approx $100 range instead of the the $150-180ish knives out there that share it's MSRP. The steel seems to be pretty attractive and Lionsteel seems to be a pretty quality company.

I'm a little late reviving this thread but now that I've used the Heft 4 I'll sum it up in two words: TO HARD. It was not shaving sharp when I got it, took forever to get it barely shaving, not hair popping, and then dulled rather quickly whittling a piece of wood. When I re-sharpened, I decided to make the edge about 2 degrees shallower and completely wore out 2 WorkSharp belts. That thing's going in the closet. It makes a good pry bar but sucks as a knife

Sorry to resurrect but I really dig my Heft4 and opine that maybe hair popping sharp isn't what you really need in a hard use knife. I could shave with my EDC but I wouldn't split firewood with it. It's hard for a reason. Find the balance.

I have a couple HEFT 4's and a few various Esee-4's. The HEFT is vastly superior in terms of ergonomics...probably the most comfortable handling fixed blade I own. Steel seems to be good stuff.

Love this knife so far. I've only had it for a month but using it a lot. It came scary sharp out of box and haven't had to sharpen yet. I expect it will be extra work to sharpen but the edge should be more resilient. I agree, a camp knife does not need to be razor sharp.
