This is one of my "gonna try this at least once" projects......

I had the blade and a chunk of ivory laying around for quit some time before I figured out what to do with it....I made alot of drawings before I kinda figured out how it should look......I had a rough idea but alowed my self to explore the shape with no limits......its mostly carved with a knife and files......aound the mouth I used a dremmel tool to get some of the excess out. The blade is part fulltang and part sticktang. Its made from Damasteel. The bolsters are Sibirian mammoth ivory and the handle is Alaskan mammoth ivory. The tongue is 14K gold

I have not made the sheath for it yet.

Jens, an outstanding design,(although I think it looks more like a Wherewolf than a dragon). In the eye of the beholder I guess. Your workmanship is execelent. I like it.

I'm not a big "carved handle" man, but I love the looks of your bolsters full/hidden tang work. Beautiful work all around.

That knife is fantastic!! It really illustrates the skill---putting all those elements together must have been tough, and you did it with such precision. Congrats!

Thanks a bunch guys! It was a looooong project...I have never carved on a knife before but decided to make a chess set once....after carving 3 pieces I decided that was enough for now.....doing this knife was fun. I used one of my own knives to carve it and I tell ya it needed to be SHARP....I sharpened it hairpopping sharp ....after whitling for several hours I felt it needed to be stropped just abit to carve good....tested it before I stropped the edge and it would still shave...thats how sharp it needed to be!..btw I use a knife made from RWL-34 and it worked GREAT!
Neil I take that as a great compliment!!

Jerry...you got it right on...I meant it to be a dragon..started out as a dragon and I think I ended up with one too..but I did see the wolf in there alot....

Outstanding work!
Now, insert a couple of rubys for eyes and that baby will scare the beard off of Bin-Laden!;)

Oh man! That is simply incredible Jens. Can you talk a little about the "Process" of that carving...tools....etc?

Thanks...
