The edge of the metal flap facing up between the two arrows is what I fell onto that broke my rib and popped my lung like a balloon. My lung after popping was 50 percent collapsed. Sortly after crawling face first down a straight vertical ladder and laying onto my side I was told to....get up and walk it off.

I did that ... Walked it off in the hospital lol.

Thread explaining everything:

Its ok so far. I am going to work ups at night and collect unemployment in place of my lost day job until I find somthing good . I can also watch my daughter during the day and save on daycare.
The last time I was on unemployment my wife was pregnant so I rushed back into a shit job.

Not this time I will be more selective.....

Wow! Totally missed that the first time around. Glad you're back and better. Smart move on the job. I rushed back to a crap job after ripping my lumbar some years ago. Ended up disabled and unemployed with a pregnant wife and 4 kids.
Good luck Bro! May you find a great job and keep your health.

Who the heck told you to "walk it off"? I hope it was not a supervisor. Good luck with everything, David

Those collapsed lungs get better with breathing heavily and plenty of exercise! As Chris Rock would say, Rub some 'tussin on it!

Glad you are doing better and good luck on the job search.

one question though.......................only 1 pic ?

Why do you have to collect unemployment? If this is a work place injury than you should have been given a lump sum payment and workman's compensation payments until you are ready to return to your job. I don't know for sure as I am a Canadian but I think its the same in the States? You should also qualify for retraining for a new job if you want one. I'm sorry but it pisses me off when I hear of a working man who is injured on the job and than has to fight for the programs which he was forced into paying for while he was working and now that he needs these programs they try to find a way of screwing him and his family...Than they wonder why people walk into the workers comp office with high powered rifles like a recent event that happened here in Edmonton.

Thanks Mr. Mob. I plan on really looking into every job I come across with no rush. I always have people calling with job offers since I always have a profile up on careerbuilder. Finds a job is easy. Finding the right job a little tougher but doable. I cant imagine how hard you had it when you had to go on the DL with a pregnant wife and 4 kids. Damn. Im guessin it all turned out well?

My supervisor of course lol.

Shh that is a trade secret!! I usually alternate between a Tussin rub and a nice glass full of suck -it-up. Works every time. As for the heavy breathing I am married so all that was done Hand-solo Millenium Falcon style....

Jump Around, Jump Around!!
;)

Jump up Jump up and git down.... Apparently I have the get down part, I just cant seem to stick the landings. I might need to go take some gymnastics classes.

Glad you are doing better and good luck on the job search.

Thanks. Actually I hurt myself on the 6th of June. I collected disability until I was well enough to go back to work. The job I hurt myself at, UPS, I still have. The day job however let me go. Until I find a new day job I will collect partial unemployment to replace the day jobs earnings whilst I work my night job.

Thx for the kind words guys.

A UPS supervisor told you, an employee under his care to walk a at work injury off.........Hmmmm........ I just sayin.

I have never really heard anything good about how UPS treats their workers......... I just sayin....again

Good to see you are back up and working. Good luck with your job search:thumbup:

The first thing was...get up off the floor youll feel better. The nwalk it off. as soon as I said it was more serious they told me to sit a while and see how I felt. I did so, took a walk to the bathroom and came back. Then you get the option to either go to the hospital immediately or if you feel up to it go home and if necessary hit the hospital the next day. I told tem ifelt it was a little more serious. To be honest at first everyone including myself though I had just had the wind knocked out of me. I am a guy that has a high pain threshold and I am almost never hurt. I was actually going to just go home and see how I felt in the morning but my spidey sense went off and I figured to be safe I should go to the hospital.

Glad I did.

Glad it wasn't more serious. Having that corner removed to a 45 vs. 90 degree angle might have saved you some.

True. Personally I see no use for that slab of steel. I can remember bsing with the guy that I took over the spot from...we were joking about how much it would hurt to fall on it lol.
