Hello all. I have a very interesting piece from a now defunct company called The Edge Company Knives. It is a pen knife that has a spring deployed spike. The thing is built like a tank and the deplyment spring is very strong. The item is new in box. I have a feeling it is pretty valuable but I can’t find any info on it.
I had it in Ebay and the price was really getting up there but Ebay canceled the auction. It seems they have a rule about “weapons that are disguised as a non weapon”. So not only did this item’s auction get canceled, but at the same time, my Bowen Knife company items got cancelled (these were a belt and a knife blade that was the buckle.
Do any of you have any info on the pen knife? And maybe might you know a good place to sell it?
Thanks
okcmco

Your pen knife is interesting, but I have no knowledge concerning its history. Almost sounds like KGB and MI6, although I think that spies did more wet-work with .22 Short cartridges than spikes.

Paid members can upload from their computers, but anyone can open a photo hosting account.
I use www.photobucket.com . Download your pictures and they give you a URL for each picture.
Use the fourth URL, with the tags already in place. Copy & Paste that in your post here.

You can sell on Bladeforums, in our Exchange section. But you need a Gold membership to do so. You also need a Gold membership to ask what your item is worth.

I'm not sure what you mean by a pen knife that has a spring deployed spike. I have a piece called a Guardfather that could be described as a pen-shaped handle that has a spring deployed spike.

It's not a weapon; it's an automatic olive-spearer. :)

I believe Charlie Mike referred to it as such.

That is funny.
I am sorry that I was unaware that I was not allowed to ask questions about the value of my piece.
I meant pen knife in that it looks like a ball point pen. Not a Pen knife to sharpen a quill

Look up "Guardfather" , that was both the proper, and now generic name for these spikes. There were two versions -

New -

yup. that did the trick. it came up. Seems at first they were very high quality and well made. Mine is built from machined steel and parkerized. I read that the newer ones are pretty rinky dink

Ah that takes me back, I remember seeing lots of ads for them in the 80's, unfortunately I was a poor snotty kid so no $ for one. I've seen more modern version which looks more like a pen but a whole lot less sturdy than the old school version.

I still have a couple switchblades from Edgco. Their catalogs were great reading back in the day. Man I'm getting old :) Here's a tang pic of my Stag EDGCO. Ignore the AB pic.

I saw this thread last night and noticed I had this knife and a stag version on my night stand.
They both came from Edgeco. Edgeco had them made in Italy.
