It is surprising that this film is from 1997, wow, it seems like only
yesterday that I first saw it.

I'm heading to Ashokan in a few weeks time and Brian Lyttle, the
maker of the folder in the movie and also had a walk on part, barely
but he was there ;) and he will be at Ashokan this year, what a nice
fellow and an excellent knife maker as well, looking forward to seeing
him again and chatting with him and maybe seeing some knives he
may have brought along with him.

anyone else also enjoy this film?

Watched it tonight while on assignment here in Kelso WA.

it's actually a pretty good flick, I liked because it was something different, and alot of outdoors/survival without the Rambo, nothing against Rambo though.

Poor Baldwin...;)

and yes, one of the things I like about his movie is the location
and how it was shot, very nice, very rustic, enjoyed it a lot.

I really like the Edge because I like movies about survival. I thought Anthony Hopkins was quite good for his role in this movie. I only buy a DVD if I can watch the movie many times without getting sick of it. The Edge is one of those movies.

Agreed.

Most "knife movies" (Seraphim Falls comes to mind) are, IMO, only so-so once you take out the knife-related scenes.

This one was great by any measure.

Hopkins does very well in that, like his delivery of almost all of his lines,
I finally made a digital copy of my dvd so I can take it with me on the road
saw it so much at home, didn't feel the need, but with my up coming visit
again with Brian Lyttle, had to make the copy and watch it again.

He's lost a LOT of weight since that movie, you'd not recognize him now!

I was just thinking of Seraphim Falls when I posted my other comment! I also think the best parts in these "knife movies" are the knife related scenes and these movies would be so-so without the knife related scenes:)

i enjoy that movie quite a bit.

i do, however, find baldwin's acting terribly annoying. though i have nothing against him as an actor in any other role.

Loved the movie, and I really liked the bear. (My dad says: "Better actor than Baldwin.") I've loved movie bears ever since I read and saw The Bears And I in the 70's. RIP Bart :(

I wasn't into knives at the time, so I didn't pay attention to that little detail. Might there be a link to a pic out there? If not, I guess I'll have to rent & watch again...

thx - cpr

Liked it very much as well. See? Geeks with emotional fortitude really do rule the world and can survive anything! :D

I would have liked it, but Anthony Hopkins getting clawed by a huge brown bear (the head-on shots of that thing are awesome, in every sense of that word) and not being mortally wounded turned me off.

Aside from the part about Baldwin getting wacked in the movie, y'all are missing the MOST IMPORTANT PART of this movie... Elle MacPhearson! Yes, the honorary Mrs. Mongo. :D

This is one of my favorite movies. Sometimes it takes almost losing your life in order to begin living it well. I imagine that Anthony Hopkins character goes on to live life more genuinely and with more vitality because of his survival experience. I loved that knife, man what a beaut. I liked the way the movie portrayed a knife as a tool rather than a weapon.

One of my favorite outdoors movies!

My first nice custom folder came from teh desire to get one as close as I could to the movie knife!

Tony_A - thanks for the specs & pic. I's feelin' too lazy to look for it last night...

Thinking I might have go get the show again anyway.

thx - cpr
