Well all though I must have had at least 25 of these & handled so many I couldnt even guess at{ many hundreds.} Theve always been the infamous tourist junk weve all seen so many times

. But Ive always searched for a real properly made & tempered Dehradun made Lions head kukri.

I was sure they existed at one time.{I think I recal Uncle Bill saying he had a real one?}

Its been rather like searching for the holy grail!

But here it is, a clearly Dehradun made Angh koala with a nickel silver bolster & real silver, lions head buttcap!

Id guess 1920s or 30s & is very a nicely made piece, I would definatly class it as an Officers personl purchase kukri in quality.

Found on ebay for a typicle rubbish tourist lions head price.

Very nice, Spiral, but I bet that it doesn't have the "armor piercing" heat treat like my lion-headed wonder does. ;)

Is the handle wood or figured horn?

woo - sweet. keep seeing a lot of those craptastic lion head ones.

don't seem to see many/any (need to hit more shows?) older military pieces, like the Mark NNNs. someday :)

Thanks guys!

Yes Dave its well figured horn, quite stripey, realy. No armour piercing tip unfortunatly but a very nice point to it though!

Well Xinel I wasnt certan till it arrived but I could see it wasnt chrome plaited, no dot punch decoration, had nice lines, the lion looked silver or perhaps pewter, not steel or chrome, the blade looks hand finnished rather than the rounded soft look of a buffed or plaited kukri, & the lion actualy resembles a lion. So I took a chance & it paid off.

Ive tried ones that looked differnt than the run of the mill ones before & theve still been poor steel or temper, etc.

Guess its ones like this the tourist ones were copies of.

The military ones are about you just need to hunt them down.

I pick them up quite often.

Thanks N2S! cool! the next generation I would guess? Lion more defaced etc. , {just idle speculation.} nice find.

No dot markings on either of them.Thats a good sign!

Really nice Spiral! Sadly, I don't think I would be able to tell some of the better junk from this classic, so tend to avoid anything with a Lion's head on it. The picture helps though. Maybe I'll get lucky one day. The junkers _are_ fairly easy to spot. Great snag for you.

Neat cho. I had one of the totally crap ones with unhardened steel when I was younger. Would be cool to have one that actually worked.

Cheers Guys!

I reckon theres a million crap ones for evry good lions head that still exists!

Took a long time to find this one. The kaudi took some time to do, its all been done carefully.

It is a realy good well balanced ,fast & powerfull kukri , But with a Lions head on it!
